NEW LONDON, Conn. -- Junior
Natasha Frisch (Mendota Heights, MN) won her second New England pole vault championship and seniors
Adam Schimmelpfennig (Pomfret) and
Ali LeClerc (Wolcott) repeated All-New England outdoor honors at the 2025 New England Division III Track & Field Championships this weekend at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy's Nitchman Field.
In all, four individuals, as well as the men's 4x400 and 4x800 relays, finished among the Top 8 and were recognized as All-New England, giving Eastern a total of 12 total All-New England performers. The men's 4x400 and 4x800 relays repeated All-New England honors from a year ago with seventh and fifth-place finishes, respectively, the 4x800 relay breaking the program record of last year's All-New England squad with a time of 7:52.95. Senior
Reynaldo Torres (Meriden) and sophomore
Zachary D'Andrea (Wallingford) returned from last year's record-setting relay and were joined this year by first-year runners
Sam Ambrocio (Beacon Falls) and
Joey Caruk (Wethersfield).
The men placed in a tie for 17th among scoring teams with 18 points while the women were tied for 21st among 39 scoring teams with a total of 12 points.
Frisch becomes the first Eastern female to win the New England Division III outdoor pole vault title, breaking the facility record with a winning vault of 12-1 1/2 (3.70 meters) in a field of 17 competitors Friday.
Prior to this year, only Erika Barber in 2008 and 2010 among women had been named All-New England in the pole vault at the Division III outdoor championships. The two-time defending Little East Conference outdoor champion, Frisch placed in a tie for tenth at last year's New England Division III outdoor meet but went on to win the New England Open title the following week. She set the program outdoor record on March 29 with a mark of 12-2 1/2 (3.72 meters).
Schimmelpfennig ran to Division III All-New England honors for the third straight year, following up finishes of fourth in 2023 and sixth in 2024 with a third-place finish among 20 competitors Saturday. He was timed in 14.57 in the finals, just off his own record of 14.55. LeClerc, the four-time Little East champion in the 3000 steeplechase, followed her fourth-place finish a year ago by placing seventh among 23 runners Saturday in a time of 11:45.34.
Senior
Mike Collins (Bloomfield), the Little East indoor and outdoor long jump champion, earned a third-place finish among 26 competitors in that event Friday with a mark of 23-2 3/4 (7.08m).
Third a year ago at this meet, the men's 4x400 relay was timed in 3:21.75 Saturday, good enough for seventh place among 26 competing teams. Runners were sophomore
James Saint-Jean (Bridgeport) and first-year runners
