AUBURNDALE, Fla. – Six Eastern Connecticut State University pitchers walked 11 batters and hit four – with eight of those batters eventually scoring – as the Warriors dropped a 16-6, eight-inning baseball decision to St. Norbert College Saturday morning at Lake Myrtle Park.

A loser of four of its last five, Eastern (3-4) recovered from St. Norbert's (8-3) five-run first inning to tie the game at 6-all by batting around and scoring five runs in the top of the fourth on a leadoff home run by senior first baseman D.J. Scavone (Auburn, MA) – his team-leading third of the year – run-scoring singles by junior leftfielder and leadoff hitter Ryan Hood (Arlington, MA) and sophomore DH Jake LeFevre (Mansfield Center) and a two-run single by junior third baseman Alex Parkos (Meriden).

Sean Ferraro's sacrifice fly gave the Green Knights the lead for good in the bottom of the fifth, 7-6, and St. Norbert put the game away by batting around again in the sixth and scoring seven times on four hits, four walks, a wild pitch and passed ball.

After allowing only one earned run in six innings in his first start against Ramapo College Monday, senior righty Sam Kosterich (Stamford) did not survive the first inning Saturday. He was charged with all five runs in the inning, giving up three hits and walking three.

St. Norbert leadoff hitter Sean Ferraro reached three times with two hits and a walk, drove in three runs and scored three.

Batting ninth, junior shortstop Dale Keller (Oxford) upped his team-leading batting average to .364 with two hits. Scavone's homer was Eastern's only extra-base hit.

In his second appearance, Eastern freshman left-hander John Ferrara (Northhampton, MA) limited St. Norbert to one hit and one run (but walked three) over 2 2/3 innings after replacing Kosterich.

Eastern closes out its Florida trip against Knox College Sunday at 10 a.m.
