Luke Broadhurst (Stafford) drove in five runs and senior first baseman
Holden White (Wallingford) broke the program game record with four doubles as the Eastern Connecticut State University baseball team remained the only unbeaten team in the Little East Conference with a 19-3, seven-inning victory over Keene State College Tuesday afternoon at Owl Athletic Complex.
Ranked No. 1 in the second New England coaches' poll, released today, Eastern (16-2, 9-0 LEC) collected 21 hits -- eight of them for extra bases -- off six Keene (2-8, 1-4 LEC) pitchers. Leading 8-3, Eastern sent 14 batters to the plate in the fifth inning and scored nine runs on six hits and four walks off four Keene pitchers.

Six Eastern batters recorded at least two hits. Broadhurst had two-run singles in a four-run first and the nine-run fifth and also plated a run with a single in the second. Sophomore
Thomas Acevedo (Miami, FL) replaced Broadhurst late in the game at third and smacked his first career home run, driving in his first career run with a one-out home run in the sixth.
Holden became the first player in program history to hit four doubles in a game in the first, fourth, fifth and sixth. He scored twice and drove in a run with his four hits. Freshman second baseman
Chris Malcom (East Lyme) drove in his first collegiate run with a single in the sixth.

Jason Claiborn (Prospect) reached four time with a single, double and two walks and scored three runs. Senior leftfielder
John Mesagno (Tappan, NY) was 2-for-5 with a two-run double and hit-by-pitch, scored twice and drove in two runs, while junior shortstop
Owen Marica (Haddam) was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBI. In the nine-run fifth, he drove in two runs with singles and scored twice.

John Parker (Brunswick, ME) won his first game of the year and 15
th of his career with two scoreless innings in relief of sophomore righty starter
Tim Pfaffenbichler (Windsor Locks). Freshman righty
Cole Lalli (Coventry) saw his first varsity action, strikeout out the side in the sixth while walking one and allowing a hit.
Eastern hosts Keene in a non-conference game Wednesday at 4 p.m.
