WESTFIELD, Mass. – Led by first-year player Chris Davidson (New Milford), the Eastern Connecticut State University men's golf team captured four of the top ten places and put all five of its scorers among the top 15 in winning the Fourth Annual Westfield State University Brett Williamson Invitational Thursday at Tekoa Country Club.

The invitational championship is the second in three days for Eastern, which shot 11-over par Monday to claim its own invitational in a five-team field on its home course, The Windham Club. The Warriors had opened their second season Sept. 8 with a 23-stroke win over Wesleyan University at Lyman Orchards Golf Club in Middlefield.

In a field of 11 teams Thursday, five Eastern golfers combined to shoot 27-over for a five-stroke victory over host Westfield State over the par-71 course. The Warriors had a 56-stroke advantage over Little East Conference foe Rhode Island College, which placed seventh overall (+83).

The team's No. 4 scorer at the Warrior Invitational Monday at +6, Davidson shared second place Thursday with Westfield State's J.J. Newcombe, both carding 5-over 76s. Albertus Magnus' Ryan Sember won medalist honors (+2) for the Falcons, who placed fourth overall. Newcombe and Sember are both seniors.

Eastern's depth overwhelmed the field, with four of its players finishing ahead of Westfield State's No. 2 and all five of its players within four strokes of one another. Following Davidson for the Warriors were sophomore Jonah Dupuis (Hampton), junior Andrew Gromko (Canterbury), sophomore Ashton Lewis (Fairfield), and first-year golfer Cal Angelo (Southington).

Dupuis and Gromko tied for seventh (+7), with Lewis a stroke back in tenth (+8) and Angelo closing it out by sharing 11th place (+9).
