M Lacrosse: Offensive Touch Elusive For Young Team, Now 0-3 on Road

NEWTON, Mass. -- The Eastern Connecticut State University men's lacrosse team held Lasell University from scoring in the third period, but was unable to cut into a seven-goal deficit by also being held off the board over those 15 minutes in an 11-3 non-conference loss Wednesday afternoon at Grellier Field.

Now winless on the road in three outings this year, Eastern (1-3) went scoreless for the first 19 minutes and managed only one goal though the first 47 minutes before first-year midfielder Dan Barron (Newington) converted the team's only man-up opportunity in six tries two minutes into the fourth quarter.

Barron, who entered the game with three assists, contributed to all three Eastern goals by scoring the first two of his career, then assisting on first-year attackman Brycen Kennedy's (Southington) fifth goal of the year that closed out the scoring with under a minute remaining.

Lasell (1-5), which had lost its first five matches while playing a difficult schedule, got five goals and an assist from senior attack James Anderson, apppearing in only his third game of the season.

Senior Alex Beauchemin needed eight saves to post his first win in five decisions. Eastern first-year goalie Sam Davies (Newington) stopped six shots. First-year midfielder Ryan Stone dominated at the faceoff X for Lasell by winning 11 of 15 attempts against three Eastern opponents.

Eastern visits Emerson College Saturday in a non-conference match 1 p.m. before returning home next Wednesday to host Roger Williams University in a non-conference match. The Warriors open their Little East Conference season a week from Saturday at Salem State University.
