In his first start of the season, junior righty
Billy Oldham (Brookfield) struck out a career-high 14 batters, and allowed only one hit and one walk over the first seven innings in a 5-0 season-opening shutout at Hood College. Oldham struck out the side twice and faced only two batters over the 21-batter limit. He retired the final 14 batters in order (ten by strikeout), the first six in that stretch in order. Oldham was named third-team All-LEC last year. Ranked No. 9 nationally in the pre-season, Eastern won all three of its games on its opening weekend.
