MANSFIELD, Conn. – The Keene State College men's lacrosse team held Eastern Connecticut State University scoreless through the first 53 minutes and eased to its 55
th straight Little East Conference regular-season win, 16-2, Saturday afternoon at Rick McCarthy Field.
Keene (5-3, 2-0 LEC), which hasn't loss since an LEC regular-season game since a 14-11 decision at Eastern (3-6, 1-1 LEC) in early April of 2012, scored 14 seconds off the faceoff when sophomore Colby Quiet won the first of his 11 faceoffs (on 16 attempts), senior Travis Hamilton corralled the ground ball and freshman Rex Maccarini found junior Cooper Cioffi for the first of his game-high four goals.
Leading 9-0 at halftime, the Owls rolled up five more goals in the first six minutes of the third quarter to move out to a 14-0 lead before junior
Shane Haggerty (Stamford) broke the spell with his sixth goal of the year on an assist from
Zacharie Appolon (Stamford) with 22 minutes left in the game. Junior
Payten Nevins's (Hamden) third goal of the season on an assist from first-year player
Quinn O'Connor (Glastonbury) with 40 seconds left in the third quarter closed out the Eastern scoring.
Keene won 12 of 19 faceoffs, limited Eastern to 20 ground balls and forced it into 25 turnovers. Seven different players contributed a point for Keene, which won for the fourth time this year in five matches on its opponent's field. Senior Joe Nutting contributed to ten of his team's goals by assisting on eight and scoring two. He assisted on three straight Keene goals to open the second quarter and was credited with assists on five straight Keene goals that were assisted.

Keene senior goalie Chase Chamberlin made seven saves and departed with a 15-2 lead after three quarters, while junior
Nick Collazo (Park Ridge, NJ) and first-year transfer
Sam Davies (Newington) split time in the Eastern net. Collazo made six saves, Davies five.
Eastern hosts Plymouth State University Saturday in a conference contest at noon.
