WILLIMANTIC, Conn. – Sparked by individual winners
Maya Brody (East Granby) and
Natasha Frisch (Mendota Heights, MN), 14 swimmers contributed points in individual events when the Eastern Connecticut State University women's swim team returned to action after a layoff of nearly six weeks with a 172-90 loss to Keene State College Saturday afternoon at the Sports Center pool.
Returning from injury that has sidelined her all season, Brody won the 50 and 100 freestyle events and was second in the 100 butterfly to lead the team with 22 points, while Frisch captured the 100 breaststroke and was third in the 200 breaststroke to add 12 points. The program record-holder in the 50 butterfly – set during her first season at the Little East Conference Championship – Brody established a personal record of 57.62 in Saturday's 100 freestyle. Frisch remained undefeated in four dual meets in the 100 breaststroke, where she PR'd with a time of 1:12.44 Saturday. It was her sixth win this year in breaststroke competition.

Nancy Scanlon (West Hartford) and sophomore
Allison Ronan (Northbridge, MA) each contributed eight points to Eastern's final total. Scanlon was second in the 200 butterfly and fourth in both the 100 butterfly and 100 individual medley. Ronan took two seconds, in the 100 and 200 backstroke.

Elizabeth Anderson (Willington) and sophomore
Ceili Roberts (Stratford) competed in their first meets of the year. Anderson, re-joining the team after spending a semester abroad, was sixth in the 200 freestyle Saturday while Roberts, back from injury, was fifth in the 500 and 1000 freestyle events. Junior
Nicole Sabio (Unionville), limited to two previous meets this year due to injury, was fourth in the 50 freestyle Saturday and also swam a leg of the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays.
Senior Jaelin Jang and junior Kiley Young each won three events for Keene (3-3), with senior Laura Chaffee winning two. Keene is the 15-time defending LEC champion.
Eastern visits Western Connecticut State University Monday at 1 p.m. in a meet which includes Rhode Island College.
