BLOOMFIELD, Conn. – Senior All-America Ashton Lewis (Fairfield) earned medalist honors for the third straight year at the Fourth Annual Eastern Connecticut State University Warrior Invitational men's golf tournament, and junior Matthew Orefice (Niantic) finished third to power the Warriors to their third straight win in this tournament Wednesday at Tumble Brook Country Club.

In an eight-team field, Eastern won the team title for the third straight year with a combined score of 30-over 318, 14 shots better than Little East Conference foe Rhode Island College. It was Eastern's fourth tournament win in five tries this year.

Lewis, who won the Little East Conference championship for the third straight year last weekend, was the only player among 40 participants to shoot par over the 72-hole layout Wednesday. Lewis had four birdies and ten pars, finishing strong with two birdies and three pars over his final five holes. He shot even-par 36 on both the front and back nine. After bogeying two of his first five holes, Lewis had only two bogeys over the final 13 holes.

Orefice gave Eastern two of the top three scorers when he shot seven-over 79. Orefice eagled his first hole when he began at No. 10 and later survived a triple boey on the front nine and double bogey on the back nine. He had 11 pars, four of them coming on his final five holes.

For Eastern, sophomore Jake Napolitan (Agawam, MA) shared ninth place with an 11-over 83, with junior Chris Davidson (New Milford) sharing 12th place with a 12-over 84.

Led by first-year player Nico Coloneri (New Milford) and junior Ryan Silva (Windham, ME), Eastern's 'second' team shared fourth place with a combined 53-over par 341, placing ahead of Keene State College, Westfield State University and Dean College.

Coloneri and Silva shared fourth place at nine-over 81, with first-year players Ryan O'Donnell (Southington) 28th at 17-over 89 and Eliyaan Shakeel (West Hartford) tied for 29th at 18-over 90.

Also competing for Eastern were sophomore Nick DiNino (Glastonbury) and sophomore Chris Stephenson (Colchester). DiNino shot 20-over 92 and Stephenson 31-over 103.

Eastern closes out the fall season at the 88th New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championship Saturday and Sunday at The Captains Golf Course in Brewster, MA. The Warriors were seventh in a field of 23 teams last year and Lewis finished second individually, a shot behind the winner with a two-under 69.
