Tori Heaphy, So., East Haven

The weekly LEC honor is the first in the career of Heaphy and first this year for the team. In a Little East Conference sweep at Western Connecticut State University, the sophomore DP/pitcher took over the team lead in batting at .412 by going 6-for-8 with a walk, four doubles and a home run, 13 total bases, three runs scored and three RBI. In an opening 12-4 win, Heaphy had RBI doubles in consecutive five-run innings, scoring both times. She also singled in the third inning. In a 5-2 second-game win, she reached in all four plate appearances with two doubles, a leadoff home run in the fourth that gave Eastern the lead for good, and an intentional walk. In her last five games, Heaphy is 8-for-12 with three walks, 15 total bases, four runs scored, and five RBI.

Defending LEC champion Eastern (10-8, 2-0 LEC) hosts the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth (16-7, 3-1 LEC) in a Little East doubleheader Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
