PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The Eastern Connecticut State University men's and women's swim teams each won eight of their nine individual events and combined to win three of four relays Friday evening at the Plymouth State University Natatorium.
The Eastern women (5-0) and men (2-1) both routed Plymouth State University, the women by a 159-45 score and the men by 164-32. The Eastern women also eased past Western New England University, 166-39 (WNE does not sponsor a men's swim team). The women improved to 10-5 in dual meet competition against Plymouth, having won ten of the last 11 and are 23-5 all-time vs. WNE. The men have beaten Plymouth in all five of the dual meets in the series.
For the women, junior
Natasha Frisch (Mendota Heights, MN) and sophomore
Camille Attle (Bristol) each won two individual events, with senior
Allison Ronan (Northbridge, MA) winning one. Sisters
Emma Wheeler (Morris) and
Ava Wheeler (Morris) each also captured one first. Attle and sophomore
Stacey Sheno (Newington) also swam a leg of the winning 400 medley relay, as did junior
Emily Madden (Manchester) and sophomore
Cassandra Wentzell (Wallingford).
For the men, seniors
Joseph Sylvester (Morris) and
Connor Rego (Winsted) were double winners, with senior
Ben D'Addario (Fairfield), and sophomores
Ryan Jezek (Avon),
Samuel Ainscough (Mystic) and
Bruce Bradshaw (Vernon) all winning one event each. D'Addario was part of both winning relays, with Sylvester, Ainscough, Jezek, sophomores
Eric Quiterio (Windsor) and
Nico Iannucci (Parsippany, NJ), and first-year swimmer
Zachary Beckham (Tolland) contributing to one winning relay each.
Eastern competes at the Roger Williams University Fisher Invitational along with Babson College Friday and Saturday at 10 a.m. at the RWU Aquatics Center and closes out fall semester competition at the Connecticut Cup hosted by Wesleyan University at the Webster Family Natatorium Dec. 6-7.
