Track & Field: Fourteen Honored on Senior Day Before Regular-Season Finale


senior spotlight logoBelow is the official transcript of the track & field Senior Day ceremony which was conducted prior to the start of the Bonnie Edmondson '87 Classic Saturday at the Mansfield Outdoor Complex. Fourteen outgoing men and women's track athletes and their families were honored.

CARLY ALSTON                  
Our first senior is a 3-year member of the indoor and outdoor programs and is also a 4-year member of the soccer program. A history/social sciences and education major and scholar-athlete qualifier, from Franklin, MA, CARLY ALSTON. Carly's parents are Josh and Michelle, her aunt, Johanna Dennett, and Diego, the family dog. Carly runs distances from 800 to 5000 meters. She is 10th all-time in the 800 and a member of the program-record sprint medley relay. CONGRATULATIONS, CARLY.

JACOB BOUTOTE               
A 4-year member of the indoor and outdoor programs,  a scholar-athlete as a elementary education and history major and a two-year team captain, from Bristol, JACOB BOUTOTE. With Jacob today are his parents Tracy and Michael and brother Kyle. Jacob has competed in a variety of events indoors and outdoors, including the  hurdles, sprints and relays. CONGRATULATIONS, JACOB.

SHANNON BURBY            
Another 4-year member of the indoor and outdoor programs, a scholar-athlete as a health sciences major and a team captain, from Wolcott, SHANNON BURBY. Joining Shannon today are her parents, Walter and Michele. Shannon has contributed in all of the throwing events in her career – shot, discus, hammer,  weight, and javelin. She ranks 9th all-time in the weight throw and tenth all-time in the hammer. CONGRATULATIONS, SHANNON.

EMMANUEL FLORES                   
A two-year member of the indoor and outdoor programs and a history major from Bloomfield, EMMANUEL FLORES. With Emmanuel today are his parents, Ramon and Jessica and his cousin, Nilani Lopez Chambers. In his career, Emmanuel has focused primarily upon the shot put and javelin. Indoors in the shot this year, he finished 8th  in the LEC Championships with a PR of 38-0 and was 9th in the shot at the Edmondson Classic a year ago. CONGRATULATIONS, EMMANUEL.
 
JAKE HADDAD                               
Another 4-year member of the program and another Eastern Scholar-Athlete qualifier who has run cross country and indoor and outdoor track, from Vernon, distance runner JAKE HADDAD. His parents are Matt – a former middle distance runner in the program as a student-athlete -- and Gabriella. Jake has run distances from the mile to 10,000 meters. His time of 34:13 last April 1 in the 10,000 ranks 6th all-time in program history. Jake is majoring in sport management. CONGRATULATIONS, JAKE.

AIDAN AND CONOR HENNESSY                       
As 4-year members of the indoor and outdoor programs, our next seniors are leaving indelible marks on the program in a wide range of events including the jumps, throws and hurdles. From Granby, twin brothers Aidan and Conor Hennessy. With the Hennessys today are their parents, John and Ann.
Aidan ranks among the all-time Eastern Top 10 in six individual events and one relay, including 2nd in the decathlon and third in the high jump, 60 meter hurdles and triple jump. He won last year's New England triple jump outdoor championship and is All-New England in the heptathlon and  is a Little East champion in the triple jump and high jump. Aidan is an Eastern Scholar-Athlete recipient majoring in computer science. CONGRATULATIONS, AIDAN
Conor competes in the high jump, long jump, triple jump and javelin, earning All-New England honors this past indoor season with a 6th-place finish in the long jump. He has also qualified for All-New England competition in the triple jump, missing by one place All-NE recognition last spring. His PR of 44-6 ¾ in the TJ came in a 2nd place finish as a junior at New Balance. He ranks 4th all-time at Eastern in the LJ, 7th in the TJ and 12th in the javelin. Conor is majoring in Business Administration. CONGRATULATIONS, CONOR.
 
ETHAN LAMBERT                                                 
Another 4-year member of the indoor and outdoor programs, a Criminology major from  Burrillville, RI, ETHAN LAMBERT. Ethan's parents, Stacey and Chris, are joining him today. Ethan has spent four years contributing to the team in high jump, long jump, triple jump and pole vault. As a freshman, Ethan set an indoor PR with a high jump mark of 5-10 which netted him a fifth-place finish, with his outdoor PR of 5-10 ¾ coming at this Bonnie Edmondson Invitational as a sophomore. CONGRATULATIONS, ETHAN.

IAN LOEHMANN                                                   
Our next senior has been with the program since transferring to Eastern in the fall of 2021, having competed indoors and outdoors in numerous events, including the sprints, hurdles,  jumps and throws. A physical education from East Haven, IAN LOEHMAN. Celebrating Senior's Day today with Ian are his parents, Kurt and Heather, sister Erin and brother Aidan.In last year's Little East Championships, Ian broke into the program's all-time Top 20 with a PR of 145 feet 4 inches in a sixth-place finish. A week ago, Ian finished 6th in the javelin at the Westfield State Jerry Gravel Invitational. CONGRATULATIONS, IAN.
 
MICHAEL PARZYCH                                              
Our next senior has run all three seasons – cross country, indoor track and outdoor track – since transferring to Eastern in the fall of 2022 from Division II Stonehill College. A communication major and eastern Scholar-Athlete from Berlin, MICHAEL PARZYCH. With Mike today is his mother, Gail, and brother, Nick.  In his two-year track & field career, Mike has submitted Top 20 performances in the 3000, 10,000 and 5000, ranking fourth in the 3000 and 10,000 and 10th in the 5,000. A month ago in the outdoor opener at Wesleyan, Mike won the 10,000 in a PR of 33:40.14. In last fall's Little East Championships, Mike was Eastern's 2nd runner at the finish, placing 24th overall in a field of 91. CONGRATULATIONS, MIKE.

ELISABETH RODIL                                     
The next senior has been a year-round runner for four years with the cross country, indoor track and outdoor track programs and has served as a two-year captain in both cross country and track. From Milford, NH, ELISABETH RODIL. With Liz today are her parents, Susan and Marc. Liz has run distances from 800 meters to the mile in her track career and was a member of the 4x800 meter relay which earned All-New England honors outdoors in 2022 with a 7th-place finish which was the 7th-fastest time in program history. This past fall, she was the team's No. 4 runner on the squad which placed 2nd as a team at the Little East Championships. Liz will graduate next month with a degree in Health Sciences. CONGRATULATIONS, ELISABETH.

ALYSSA SIRIANNI                                         
The next senior is a four-year member and a two-year team captain on the indoor and outdoor track teams, ranks in the all-time top 10 in four hurdles events and with two relays. From Vernon, ALYSSA SIRIANNI. Escorting Alyssa today is her mother, Karen. Alyssa set the current 400 meter hurdles outdoor record with a time of 1:07.85 at last year's New England Championships and is also ranked second all-time at Eastern in the 50 and 100 meter hurdles, 4th in the 55 meter hurdles, fifth all-time with the 4x200 meter relay and tenth with the 4x400 meter relay. Alyssa is another Eastern scholar-athlete recipient and is majoring in biology. CONGRATULATIONS, ALYSSA.
 
THOMAS STONE                                       
Our 13th senior is another four-year member  on the indoor and outdoor track and cross country programs and a two-year captain in each. A scholar-athlete recipient as a finance major, THOMAS STONE. With Tom today are  his parents, Geoff and Stacey, grandparents Marcia Stone and Mark & Jane Tamaccio, brother Cody, and sister Christina.
Heading into today, Tom ranks among the all-time Top 10 in six individual events and with four relays and has run a leg on both the program-record 4x800 relay and distance medley relay. With Tom, the 4x800 has earned All-New England honors both indoors and outdoors. Tom ranks 4th all-time in the 1000, 5th in the 1500 and mile, 6th at 3000 meters, 7th at 5000 meters and 8th at 800 meters. This past fall, Tom was the team's top cross country runner until missing the final three weeks with an injury that he rehabilitated throughout the winter in order to return to form during the outdoor season. Tom is one of 5 Stone siblings currently competing in intercollegiate athletics at five different universities. CONGRATULATIONS, TOM.
 
KAITO YASUDA                                                     
Our14th and final senior has navigated through a serious injury to return to the program to compete four years outdoors and three years indoors as one of the top sprinters in program history. From nearby Columbia, KAITO YASUDA. Escorting Kaito today on Senior Day is Felicia Vezina. This past winter,Kaito qualified and competed in the New England Championships at both 60 and 200 meters after competing in last spring's New England's in the 100 and 200. At UMass Dartmouth this spring, Kaito was second in a field of 54 runners at 100 meters. He ranks among the all-time Top 10 in four individual and 2 relays events, among them 3rd in the 55 and 5th in the 60 and 100. Kaito is graduating next month with a business degree. CONGRATULATIONS, KAITO.
