MANSFIELD, Conn. – Two Trinity College pitchers limited the Eastern Connecticut State University softball team to six hits as the Bantams rallied in the seventh inning of the first game and coasted in the second in 3-2, 11-2 non-conference wins Tuesday afternoon at Clyde Washburne Field.

In the first game, Trinity (15-8) was held to five hits and one run through six innings by Eastern graduate righty Alyssa Vilchez (Brampton, ON), but rallied for the tying and go-ahead runs by scoring twice in the seventh on four singles, a sacrifice fly and bases-loaded walk to break a five-game losing streak at the hands of Eastern (10-9-1).

In the first game, Eastern snapped a 1-1 tie by scoring the go-ahead run in the third on a leadoff double by leadoff hitter Emma Marelli (Waterford) and Vilchez' two-out single.
Senior righty Tiffany Stowers pitched a complete-game five-hitter in the opener for her ninth win in as many decisions.

In the second game, sophomore Kaysen Shikar (4-2) struck out ten and pitched a one-hitter, walking one and hitting a batter and the Bantams scored seven runs in the third inning on four hits, three walks and a hit batter.

Eastern's hit was a one-out double by junior second baseman Maddi Sauve (Mansfield) in the second inning. The Warriors scored two unearned runs in the fourth on two errors, a hit-by-pitch, walk and hit batter.

Marelli had two doubles and scored twice in the doubleheader.

In Trinity's 17-hit attack on the day, Gianna Tito and Taylor Mikolajczak each had four hits and combined for five runs. Tito reached seven times, drove in five runs and scored two. Lizzie Nelson drove in three runs with two hits and scored twice.
