WILLIMANTIC, Conn. –  The Eastern Connecticut State University women's and men's swim teams combined to win 22 of 24 individual events and all four relays Wednesday afternoon in a tri-meet with Bridgewater State University and Rhode Island College at the Sports Center pool.

The Eastern women (7-1) had one triple winner and four double winners in routing Rhode Island College (211-49) and Bridgewater State University (78) while the Eastern men (4-1) claimed ten of 12 individual events and both relays in a 184-78 victory over Bridgewater State University. RIC does not sponsor a men's team.

The Eastern women were last year's Little East Conference champion, edging second-place Bridgewater State by 19 points. Rhode Island was sixth. The Bridgewater men have won all three LEC titles, turning back runner-up Eastern by 119 points a year ago. Seven different men won at least one event Wednesday, with senior Joseph Sylvester (Morris) and first-year sophomore transfer Boden Tito (Southington) proving to be double winners.

For the women Wednesday, sophomore Camille Attle (Bristol) won the 100 and 200 butterfly and the 100 freestyle, falling just short of season-best times in the two 100 yard events. Double winners were senior Allison Ronan (Northbridge, MA), junior Natasha Frisch (Mendota Heights, MN) and sophomores Cassandra Wentzell (Wallingford) and Ava Wheeler (Morris). Ronan won the 200 freestyle and 200 individual medley, Frisch the 100 and 200 breaststroke, Wentzell the 100 and 200 backstroke and Wheeler the 500 and 1000 freestyle. Frisch's winning time of 1:10.47 in the 100 breaststroke is the fastest this year in the LEC and her time of 2:43.60 in the 200 breaststroke the fifth-fastest in the conference.

Sylvester came from behind over the final 200 yards to beat Bridgewater freshman Matthew Joe to the wall by .28 seconds, clocking a 11:05.55 which was just off his season best of 11:04.01. Sylvester (5:27.90) was not threatened in claiming the 500 freestyle over Bridgewater freshman Dylan Kelley by 40 seconds. Tito swam the second-fastest time in the LEC this year (behind only senior teammate Connor Rego) in winning the 200 butterfly in addition to his victory in the 200 IM.

Bridgewater swam the race without sophomore Aaron Fowler, who has one of the top three fastest times this year in the LEC in five events.

Eastern wins up the regular season Saturday, Jan. 25 at 1 p.m., hosting the University of Saint Joseph on Senior Day prior to competing in the Little East Conference Championships Feb. 13-16 at the Boston Sports Institute.
