WEST HARTFORD, Conn. --  After finishing second a year ago, junior 
Boden Tito (Southington) won the individual title at the season-opening University of Saint Joseph Pentathlon Friday evening at the Bruyette Natatorium.
As they did a year ago, the Warriors claimed five of the top eight spots and this year took six of the top ten in the non-scoring meet.
The pentathlon involves the 50 butterfly, 50 backstroke, 50 freestyle and 50 breaststroke and the 100 IM.
Tito, second only to former teammate 
Nico Iannucci a year ago with a combined time of 2:44.02, showed a combined time of 2:43.46 this year to edge Saint Joseph's Aiden Hebb (2:44.05) for first place. Juniors 
Ryan Jezek (Avon) and 
Samuel Ainscough (Mystic) filled in the 3-4 spots, with junior 
Eric Quiterio (Windsor) sixth, senior 
Sam Hurlburt (Meriden) eighth and first-year swimmer 
Matthew Cabral (Rumford, RI) tenth.
Jezek, who did not compete in the pentathlon a year ago, had a  combined time in the five events of 2:48.63 Friday, with Ainscough at 2:49.71, Quiterio at 2:52.40, Hurlburt 2:53.60 and Cabral 2:55.71. Ainscough (2:51.64) was fifth last year, Hurlburt  (2:53.01) seventh and Quiterio (2:53.68) eighth.
Tito won the 50 butterfly (24.43) and the 100 IM (56.21) Friday and was second in the 50 breaststroke (29.72); Jezek captured the 50 freestyle (22.62) and was second in the 50 backstroke (28.25) and Ainscough was second to Jezek in the 50 freestyle (23.34).
Eastern competes in the Roger Williams University Invitational next Saturday at 11 a.m.
