Rookie Swimmer-of-the-Week
Jai-Lynn Wheeler, Fy., Stonington (Stonington)
 
In her collegiate debut at the season-opening University of Saint Joseph Pentathlon Friday, Wheeler was the first freshman finisher – fourth overall – in a field of 53 competitors with a combined time of 3:10.05. Wheeler finished third in the 50 freestyle (26.23) and third in the 100 IM (1:07.07). Eastern competes in the Roger Williams University Invitational Saturday at the RWU Aquatics Center.

Boden Tito, Jr., Southington (Southington)
 
Friday, second-year transfer won the season-opening University of Saint Joseph Pentathlon in a field of 31 with a five-event total of 2:43.46. Tito won the 50 butterfly (24.43) and 100 IM (56.21) and was second in the 50 breaststroke (29.72). In his first season at Eastern last year, Tito won LEC titles in the 200 butterfly and in an LEC-record time of 4:09.11 in the 400 IM and set program records in the 200 butterfly, and 200 and 400 individual medley and with the 800 freestyle relay. The weekly honor is the second in the career of Tito, who earned the identical honor in the eighth report of last year on Dec. 8. Eastern competes in the Roger Williams University Invitational Saturday at the RWU Aquatics Center.

Matthew Cabral, Fy., Rumford, RI (Saint Raphael Academy)
 
Matthew Cabral finished tenth overall as the second freshman in a field of 31 Friday at the season-opening University of Saint Joseph Pentathlon. Cabral's highest finish was fourth in the 100 IM (1:00.94). Eastern competes in the Roger Williams University Invitational Saturday at the RWU Aquatics Center.
