In a 5-1 week, senior righty Matthew Wootton (Milford) appeared in three games with a win and a save and a 1.12 ERA in 8.0 innings. Wootton allowed only three hits (two singles) while fanning ten without a walk, with batters hitting .115.  In an 8-3 win over the University of Chicago, Wootton allowed one hit in three innings to gain a save and in the first game of a 9-4 Little East Conference win over Plymouth State University pitched four innings in relief and gained the win when Eastern erased a 3-1 deficit after four innings. In that game, Wootton fanned sixth and have up only one single. In five games out of the bullpen this year, Wootton is 1-0 with a save and a 2.45 ERA in 11 innings, with 14 strikeouts and no walks, with hitters batting .195 against him. It marks the second straight week that an Eastern pitcher gained Pitcher-of-the-Week honors, following Nathan Furino in Week No. 4.
