Box Score MANSFIELD, Conn. – Ten different players contributed points and all 28 healthy layers saw action as the Eastern Connecticut State University men's lacrosse team snapped a four-game Little East Conference losing streak with a 17- victory over the University of Southern Maine Saturday afternoon on Senior Day at Rick McCarthy Field.
With one LEC regular-season game remaining, Eastern (5-7, 2-5 LEC) remains in the hunt for one of six spots in the LEC playoffs, which get underway April 29 with first round games.
The Warriors are in seventh place in the conference a half-game behind Vermont State University Castleton (3-10, 2-4 LEC). The Spartans host Massachusetts Boston (11-4, 5-1 LEC) Tuesday and Eastern Friday at 4 p.m.
In defeating Southern Maine (2-13, 0-7 LEC) for the 25
th straight time in the series, Eastern scored the first five goals and led 7-1 at halftime in easing to its first home win since March 29.
First-year attack
Landon Mabb (Sun Prairie, WI) led Eastern with four goals and four assists and sophomore attack
Tanner Drobish (Wallingford) added five assists.
The Warriors dominated at the faceoff X, with sophomore
Nathan Tranquilli (North Branford) and first-year player
Gavin DeLucia (Uncasville) combining to win 11 of 13 attempts off the bench. First-year midfielder
Logan Pych (Vernon, NJ) pickedd up six ground balls and Tranquilli and junior defender
Liam Shanley (Cornwall, NY) four each.
All four Eastern goalies saw time, with sophomore
Gregory Hilinski (Shelton) making eight saves over 45 minutes for his fifth win.
