th complete game in 13 starts and senior first baseman
Maggie Rubeck (Easthampton, MA) drove in three runs in Eastern Connecticut State University's 9-1, six-inning Little East Conference softball victory over the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Saturday on the way to a doubleheader split.
In the second game, UMass Dartmouth (14-14, 2-8 LEC) broke a 3-3 tie by scoring two runs in the top of the fourth on junior third baseman RaeLynn Perregaux's two-out RBI single through the left side.
In the opener, Mitchell (8-6) pitched a seven-hitter, hit a batter and walked on without a strikeout. Leading 2-1, Eastern (11-15, 5-3 LEC) scored three times in the fourth on sophomore leftfielder
Julia Boya's (Coventry) RBI double, senior centerfielder
Maggie Baker's (Hudson, MA) infield ground ball and junior DP
Maddy Bowen's (Hudson, NH) single to right. Baker made her seventh start since returning from injury but came to the plate for the first time. She batted second and scored three runs.
Batting cleanup, Mitchell had two hits and scored two runs in the second game and Rubeck had three hits and drove in three runs.
Eastern visits Western Connecticut State University Tuesday at 4 p.m. in an LEC doubleheader.
