Women’s Volleyball: Warriors Cruise to Third Straight Win in 4 Set Match

Set-by-set:
  • Set 1 was the most tightly contested of the match, with neither team scoring 4 consecutive points. At 15-13 UHART, a kill from Addison Soleau started to turn things around for the Warriors. Sierra York, who had 12 kills on 34 attempts, delivered a crucial one to draw Eastern Connecticut level once again. Sam Blandford's sole ace of the day gave the Warriors a lead that they kept for the rest of the set
  • Led by Kalle Legassey, Hartford won 8 consecutive points  in Set 2. Back-to-back blocks by Jenna Murphy gave UHART a 1 point lead that they capitalized on. The Hawks had a 6 point lead until a kill from Lauren Mosca stopped the largest run of the game by either side
  • In a dominant third set, Emma Robinson had 7 of her 16 kills, including service aces for 2 of the Warriors' last 3 points. Brooke Praskievicz was a key part of Eastern Connecticut's turnaround, providing a kill or assist on 6 of the 25 points.
  • The fourth and final set was predominantly one way traffic for the Warriors, who erased an early 3-0 lead built up by Camille Earle and the Hawks. At 17-10, Hartford showed signs of coming back, again led by services from Kalle Legassey. However, the Hawks were only able to close the gap to 3 before Eastern cruised to victory.   • Hartford dominated the blocks category, with 3 solos and 16 assists, compared to Eastern's 1 and 6. Nyanakuak Piok contributed with 4 block assists, and Mattea Cosby had 3
  • Both teams relied on their bench early on, with 7 players getting time before the score was 10-9
  • Eastern's Liz Squier had 28 set assists, twice as much as Mattea Cosby, who led the Hawks with 14
  • Kalle Legassey led all players in digs (25) and service aces (3), featuring at the heart of multiple Hawk rallies

The Warriors are back in action on Saturday when they visit conference opponent VTSU Castleton at 1 p.m., and follow with a non-conference match at 3 p.m. against  Fitchburg State University.
