Box Score
WILLIMANTIC, Conn. – Junior outside Sierra York (Ashford) had a team-high 11 kills with a .417 attack percentage and the Eastern Connecticut State University women's volleyball team committed only twoanthem reception errors in battling Trinity College in a four-set non-conference loss in its 2025 home-opener at Francis E. Geissler Gymnasium. Scores were 25-19, 25-19, 18-25, 25-22.

After losing the first two sets by only six points each, Eastern (3-1) forced a fourth set and nearly a fifth as it avoided being swept by Trinity (2-0) at home for a sixth straight time dating back 20 years. The Warriors never trailed in the third set – scoring four straight points to snap the fourth and final tie and move out to a four-point, 16-12 lead.

With an opportunity to force a winner-take-all fifth set, Eastern led the fourth set virtually throughout– taking an early five-point lead at one point – before the Bantams finally pulled even at 19-19, and later took the lead for good, 22-21 on a kill from first-year player Sarah Jeremias on the way to closing out by scoring four of the final five points.

In avoiding a sweep by taking the third set, junior middle Haley Jo Bridges (Montebello, NY) and sophomore first-team All-Little East Conference outside hitter Emma Robinson (Westlake Village, CA) each had four kills with only one attack error on 18 attempts. Sophomore libero Emerson Conigliaro (Wake Forest, NC) had seven digs and senior setter Liz Squier (Trevor, WI) eight assists.

As a team in the match, the Warriors averaged 16 digs with a .953 reception percentage, with Conigliaro, junior outside Brooke Praskievicz (Moodus) and  first-year junior transfer libero Sarah Eldredge (South Windsor) combining to handle 71 serve receptions without an error. Conigliaro had 23 digs, Praskievicz ten and Squier and Eldredge eight each.

The Warriors also turned nine service aces into as many points, collecting four aces each from Robinson and Eldredge.

Following York offensively, Robinson had ten kills, Bridges and first-year outside Allegra Copeland (Beaumont, CA) eight each, with sophomore middle Addison Soleau (East Lyme) coming off the bench to add four kills without an error on seven attempts.

Squier contributed 20 assists and first-year setter Sonya Nielsen (Waterford, WI) 17.

While Eastern attacked at only .156, the Bantams attacked at .288, led by six-foot senior Maggie Barnes (11 kills, .364 pct.) and first-year outside Emma Ewart (14, .312). The Bantams also compiled 17 blocks, led by six-foot sophomore Maya Hall (six) and Barnes (four).

On Saturday, Eastern hosts Worcester State University  at noon and Bay Path University at 4 p.m. in non-conference action.
