PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- With one week left in the regular season and the regular season title already locked up, Eastern Connecticut State University Women's Soccer earned two more Little East Conference Weekly Awards as senior midfielder
Emily Dunlea was named the LEC Defensive Player of the Week, while sophomore forward
Michaela Gasparri earned LEC Offensive Player of the Week honors, as announced by the league office on Monday.
Michaela Gasparri - Women's Soccer - Offensive Player of the Week
Gasparri notched a pair of goals for Eastern, helping the Warriors clinch their second consecutive Little East Conference Regular Season title with a victory in their lone match of the week, 3-0, against the University of Southern Maine over the weekend. Gasparri totaled four points via those two goals, which helped extend the Eastern lead in the second half en route to the victory.
Emily Dunlea - Women's Soccer - Defensive Player of the Week
Dunlea played 86 minutes for Eastern, primarily on the defensive end of the ball, while helping the Warriors out offensively against the University of Southern Maine in the lone match of the week for Eastern. In the 3-0, regular-season title-clinching win, Dunlea scored her first goal of the season, the game-winning goal, while tacking on an assist in her three-point day. Helping on defense, she and the Warrior backline allowed just one shot on goal to the Huskies in the win.
Closing out the regular season on Wednesday, Eastern travels to Rhode Island College for a 4:00 PM matchup with the Anchorwomen, as they look to remain perfect in conference play. The last two matchups with Rhode Island College have ended in scoreless draws, while the last win for the Warriors came in 2022 on the road in a 2-0 win.
