WILLIMANTIC, Conn. -- With the Little East Conference Regular Season crown locked up for the second consecutive season, Eastern Connecticut State University Women's Soccer will have a bye going into the LEC Tournament, which starts this weekend. But as the wins continue to pile up for the Warriors, who have now won four in a row overall and seven consecutive matches at home, so has the regional attention.
Following their conference-clinching 3-0 shutout win against the University of Southern Maine on Saturday, Eastern catapulted themselves into the NCAA's Region I Poll in the seventh spot, while remaining seventh in the IWSOC Division III Coaches Poll in Partnership with the United Soccer Coaches Regional Poll.
That ranking comes with the Warriors being the only non-NESCAC school to be regionally ranked in Region I, with all the teams ahead of them being ranked nationally in the IWSOC Poll. As for the NPI ranking, two of those teams rank in the top 25, with the other four being ranked 28th through 46th. As it stands now, Eastern's NPI sits at 71st nationally with one regular season match remaining.Â
Closing out the regular season on Wednesday, Eastern travels to Rhode Island College for a 4:00 PM matchup with the Anchorwomen, as they look to remain perfect in conference play. The last two matchups with Rhode Island College have ended in scoreless draws, while the last win for the Warriors came in 2022 on the road in a 2-0 win.Â
