Praskievicz Collects 1,000th-Career Dig as Warriors Take Down WestConn

DANBURY, Conn. – Eastern Connecticut volleyball picked up its second-straight Little East win with a four-set victory (22-25, 25-18, 27-25, 25-13) over WestConn on Wednesday (Oct. 7).

Senior Brooke Praskievicz earned her 1,000th-career dig in win for the Warriors (9-4, 2-1 LEC), finishing the game with nine total. Praskievicz finished the night tied with Sierra York with a team-high 14 kills on offense.

Emma Robinson posted a double-double with 10 kills and 15 digs. Sonya Nielsen handed out a career-high 28 assists to guide the offense and Lauren Lacy added 16 assists.

On defense, Emerson Conigliaro led the way for the backline with 29 digs, a season-high and the second-highest total in the junior's career.

Eastern dropped the first set, allowing WestConn (3-13, 1-2) to score four of the last five points of the frame after Praskievicz had tied the set at 21 with a kill.

The Warriors took control of the second set with a 6-1 run the featured three service aces, turning a 15-11 game into a 21-12 lead for Eastern. Robinson closed out the set with a kill.

Down 12-8 in the third, Eastern used another big run with three aces from Conigliaro to jump ahead 15-12. WestConn would come back to take a 21-18 lead and earned set point at 24-22. Nielsen picked up a kill to keep the set going and back-to-back service aces by Lacy gave Eastern its own set point. After a point for the Wolves, a kill from Praskievicz and an error gave the Warriors a 2-1 lead in the match.

The final set was close early with Eastern holding a 13-11 lead after an error gave WestConn a point. From there it was all Eastern as the Warriors would finish the set scoring 12 of the next 14 points, including the last five to win the fourth set in convincing fashion.
