Track & Field: Seven Athletes Combine to Earn All-Region Honors a Total of 12 Times

Laci Davis
Laci Davis' record-breaking winning triple jump at the MIT Final Qualifier netted
her the second-best mark in the Mideast Region during the outdoor season.
WILLIMANTIC, Conn. – Seven different Eastern Connecticut State University individuals combined to achieve USTFCCCA All-Mideast Region honors 12 times in outdoor track & field in 2026.

Among 85 Little East Conference athletes to earn U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Mideast or All-East Region honors from Eastern were juniors Laci Davis (Prospect) and Andrew Johnson (Portland), sophomores Anaka Eaton (Coventry) and Givanni Perry (Hartford) and first-year competitors Mark Boudreau (Oxford), Casondra Caldwell (Bridgeport), and Hagen Drake (Stonington).

The top-eight individuals in each event from each region earn all-region distinction, in addition to each member of the region's top-eight relay teams.  (Prior to this year, all-region recognition was accorded only to the top five-ranked athletes in each event).

Achieving All-Mideast Region distinction in two events each were Johnson and  Eaton (both qualifying in the hammer and shot put), Perry (high jump and long jump), Caldwell (long jump and triple jump) and Drake (110m and 400m hurdles). Boudreau earned the honor in the shot put and Davis in the triple jump.

Caldwell repeated all-region honors in the long jump and triple jump from indoor competition this past winter, while Eaton and Johnson repeated in the shot put, and Perry in the long jump, while Drake had run to regional honors with the 4x400m relay during the indoor season.

Boudreau was ranked third in the region and 190th nationally in the shot and 190th; Caldwell fifth in the region and 72nd nationally in the long jump and seventh in the region and 52nd nationally in the triple jump; Davis second in the region and 25th nationally in the triple jump; Drake fourth in the region and 43rd nationally in the 400 hurdles and seventh in the region and 117th nationally in the 110 hurdles; Eaton second in the region and 39th nationally in the hammer and sixth in the region and 109th nationally in the shot; Johnson seventh in the region and 260th nationally in the shot and eighth in the region and 113th in the hammer; and Perry fifth in the region and 22nd nationally in the long jump  and fifth in the region and 23rd nationally in the high jump.

The top 22-ranked athletes in each event qualified for this past week's NCAA Division III national championships, with tie-breakers utilized to determine the 22nd and final spot in each event.

At the season-opener at Virginia Wesleyan University in late March, Boudreau submitted his season-best mark of 47-4 ¼ (14.43) in the shot as did Johnson in the shot (45-10 / 13.97m) and Perry with a record-breaking 5-5 ¾ / 1.67m) in the high jump; recording their season-bests three weeks later on April 10 at Southern Connecticut were Drake in the 110 hurdles (14.97), Johnson in the hammer (168-7 / 51.39m) and Perry in the long jump (18-11 ¾  / 5.78m); at Eastern's home Bonnie Edmondson Classic April 17, Caldwell posted a season-best in the triple jump (37-7 ¾  / 11.47m) and Eaton her top mark of the season   in the shot (40-6 ¼ / 12.35m).

Anaka Eaton
Anaka Eaton's record-breaking winning hammer throw at the LEC Championships
proved to be the second-longest throw in the Mideast Region this outdoor season.
Saving their best marks of the season for the post-season, Caldwell long-jumped 18-3 / 5.56m and Eaton unloaded a record-breaking and winning 166-9 / 50.82m in the hammer at the LEC Championships April 25 and a week later; and the weekend after that, Drake broke the program record with a winning time of 53.50 at the New England Division III Championships at Springfield College; in the final meet of the season, Davis made the most of her final opportunity by breaking the program record with a winning triple jump of 38-9 (11.81) at the MIT Final Qualifier May 14.

Falling just shy of All-Mideast Region honors with what turned out to be the ninth-best marks times this season in the region were first-year athlete Naziah Johnson (Norwalk), the women's 4x100 relay and the men's 4x400 relay. Johnson was timed in a season-best of 12.20, .01 seconds behind eighth place; the women's 4x100 of Johnson, Perry, Caldwell and Shannon Tallis (Suffield) posted a best of 48.60, .13 seconds shy of eighth place; and the men's 4x400 of Drake, James Saint-Jean (Bridgeport), Amadeus Bonilla (Newport News, VA) and Jakeem Wilson (Sterling) recorded a best of 3:22.34, less than a second shy of the No. 8 ranking in the region.

While Eaton's best throw of the season came in winning the hammer in the LEC Championships, Davis won the LEC triple jump and Drake the LEC 110 hurdles without their best marks of the season.

Caldwell, Davis and Drake each earned All-LEC honors three times with Top 3 finishes at the LEC Championships April 25, with Eaton and Perry winning All-LEC honors twice. Caldwell was second in the long jump and triple jump and third with the 4x100 relay; Davis won the triple jump and was third in the long jump and 400; Drake won the 110 hurdles, was second in the 400 hurdles and ran a leg of the winning 4x400 relay; Eaton captured the hammer and was third in the shot and Perry was second in the high jump and third with the 4x100 relay. As the first first-year finishers at the LEC meet, Caldwell and Drake were  named All-Rookie in each their two individual events.

In end-of-the-year balloting, Caldwell was named LEC Rookie Field Athlete-of-the-Year among females and Drake the LEC Rookie Track Athlete-of-the-Year among males; Drake in the 110 hurdles, Davis in the triple jump, Eaton in the hammer, and Perry in the high jump and long jump recorded the top marks among all LEC athletes this year.

Perry was an all-region outdoor repeater from a year ago, when she was ranked first in the Mideast and second nationally in the long jump and was named LEC Female Rookie Field Athlete-of-the-Year.
