WILLIMANTIC, Conn. – Eastern Connecticut State Volleyball (1-0) cruised to a 3-0 win over Saint Joseph (CT) (0-1) to start its season on Tuesday (Sept. 1), winning 25-10, 25-16, 25-13.
The Warriors hit .363 as a team and held the Blue Jays to -.010 hitting. Eastern finished with 41 kills to just 19 for USJ.
Senior
Brooke Praskievicz started her final campaign with a team-high 11 kills, hitting .440 and added 14 digs for a double-double.
Emma Robinson was second on the team with nine kills. The offense was guided by
Lauren Lacy (19 assists) and
Sonya Nielsen (14 assists).
On defense
Emerson Conigliaro posted a team-high 17 digs and four different Warriors recorded a block.
Conigliaro also had four of Eastern's eight aces with Praskievicz collecting three.
The first set was tied at five before Eastern scored 12-straight points, capped by three-point stretch from Praskievicz of an ace, a kill and an ace. Four-straight points, with kills by Praskievicz and
Sierra York during the stretch, ended the first set.
Another big run, this time a 10-1 advantage for Eastern pushed the Warriors' lead to 19-8 after another kill by Praskievicz. USJ pulled within six at 22-16 before Eastern closed out the set scoring the last three points.
Eastern jumped out to an 8-1 lead in the third and led 17-11 before pulling away with six-straight points. Kills by
Maya Wynn and Robinson closed out the victory.

Eastern will be on the road on Saturday (Sept. 5) with a tri-match at Mount Holyoke, featuring Mount Holyoke and St. Joseph (CT).
