WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Eastern Connecticut volleyball took down Hartford in straight-sets, winning 25-12, 25-17, 25-16 on Friday night (Sept. 11).
Eastern (4-0) cruised past Hartford (3-2), hitting .287 as a team and holding the Hawks to .079 hitting. The Warriors held Hartford to hitting .000 or worse in two of the three sets and on offense Eastern led in kills 42-23 and aces 8-2.
Senior
Brooke Praskievicz posted another double-double with team-highs in kills (13), digs (12) and service aces (4). Praskievicz was one of three Warriors to hit .400 or better.
Emma Robinson led the squad hitting .588 with 11 kills and
Haley Jo Bridges hit .462 with eight kills. The offense was guided by
Lauren Lacy (16 assists) and Sonya Nielson (14 assists).
Eastern started strong, jumping out to an 8-1 lead and going up 12-3 after an ace from
Abby Piramo. A 4-0 run that featured three-straight kills from Praskievicz put the Warriors up 17-6.
Sierra York finished off the set with a kill.
Hartford pulled within one at 9-8 in the second set before Eastern would go on a 6-1 run, capped by two kills from Bridges. After the Hawks used a run of their own to make it 16-15, Eastern rattled off nine of the next eleven points to take a commanding two-set lead.
Trailing 5-0 to start the third, Eastern would quickly make the set 10-7 and then 14-8. Hartford would score a point on a block but the Warriors scored seven-straight points with Nielsen on the service line to go up 21-9. Hartford got the score back to 24-16 before York yet again closed out the set.

Eastern will host a tri-match on Saturday (Sept. 12) against Trinity (CT) and Worcester State. The Warriors will take on Trinity at 12 p.m. before playing Worcester State at 4 p.m.
