Brad Balgach's first-half goal would be the only score of the evening for the Warriors.
Across the board, both teams were about even with each other the entire way through as junior goalkeeper
Jack Harmon played only the first half for the Eastern, pushing his scoreless streak to six consecutive matches to start the year, while making it seven consecutive matches dating back to last year's Little East Conference Tournament. Harmon's 45 minutes of action saw him make three saves to keep the Hawks off the scoreboard, as Hartford outshot the Warriors, 5-4 overall and 3-2 in shots on goal.
But one shot was all it took for Balgach to put Eastern in front, doing so in the 15th minute as a loose ball in front of junior goalkeeper Cristian Vitti bounced around to the first-year's foot and he put it home to make it a 1-0 match, a lead that would hold until the halftime break, at which point first-year goalkeeper
Marek Nardi would take over the reins in net for the second half.
Nardi and Vitti boh would make two saves in the second half, bringing Vitti's total to three for the match, while the Hawks got the equalizer in the 56th minute. Following a long flick in to first-year forward Jovan Lopez-Gutierrez that was stopped by Nardi, the ensuing corner kick saw junior defender Brayden Tahiliani use all six-foot-five inches of his frame to elevate up and over the Eastern defense for the header goal from junior midfielder Jared Noble.
In and around the 70th minute, Eastern would have three consecutive corners, firing two shots wide, while the third from first-year forward
Colin Marshall was stopped by Vitti in the 74th minute, which was the penultimate shot for either side until Marshall was stopped again by Vitti in the 80th minute of the 1-1 tie.
That tie pushed Eastern's unbeaten streak to four consecutive matches, as they prepare to return to conference play on Saturday in the final match of their road trip against VTSU Castleton at 4:30 PM. The Warriors are 11-1-0 in the all-time series against the Spartans, dropping only their 2024 matchup on the road, 1-0, before coming back with a 2-1 victory last year at Rick McCarthy Field.
