
Following his graduation from Wesleyan University, Sylvester returns for his third year as the hitting and infield coach and recruiting coordinator under head coach Mike Odenwaelder.
In his first two years at Eastern, the Warriors have compiled a 59-28 record. In the 2025 season, Sylvester’s offense amassed a .323 BA, scoring 8.8 RPG while ranking first in the Little East Conference in nearly every offensive category (BA, RPG, Hits, 2B, HR, RBI, TB, SLG%, BB, OBP and SF). In the summers of 2024 and 2025, Sylvester was an assistant coach of the Harwich Mariners in the Cape Cod Baseball League, where he coached several MLB Draft picks. He helped Harwich win its first league championship since 2008. His responsibilities included coaching first base and working with the outfielders and hitters.
Prior to Eastern, Sylvester was head coach of the Hanover Senior American Legion baseball team in his hometown of Hanover (MA) for two summers (2022, 2023). In his first year, Sylvester led Hanover to the District 10 finals -- the second time in town history and the first since 2008. In the same season, he was nominated to coach the South Region at the MA Legion All-Star Game.
Sylvester’s playing career consisted of five years as a utility infielder (1B,SS,3B) at Division III Wesleyan. As a three-year starter, he played in 82 career collegiate games, starting in 80. In his graduate year, Sylvester slashed .328/.411/.500 with 44 hits, including three HR and 32 RBI in 36 games with a .996 fielding percentage. He was selected captain in both his senior and graduate seasons, winning the MacNaughten award as a graduate student, an award given annually for outstanding baseball achievement. His five-year career consisted of a Little 3 Championship and winning the NESCAC West Division in the regular season of 2023. Off the field, Sylvester earned both NESCAC All-Academic Team and Scholar-Athlete honors twice (2022 & 2023).
Sylvester holds B.A. and M.A. degrees in Chemistry from Wesleyan.
