Zack LaRosa joins the staff  in 2018 and will serve as pitching coach.

A former four-year pitcher at Division II Assumption College between 2011 and 2015, LaRosa spent the summer of 2015 as head coach of the 15U West Hartford Prep Legion program, the spring of 2016 as head sub-varsity coach and varsity pitching coach at Hall High School, the summer of 2016 as the pitching/head coach for the Torrington Titans of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL), and the spring of 2017 as pitching coach at Division III Mitchell College.

At Mitchell, the Mariners reached the championship game of the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) tournament, finishing 29-13, with two pitchers being named to the All-NECC team and the staff featuring a 2-to-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

While in college, the 6-1, 195 pound righty pitched for the Torrington Titans in the summer of 2014. He began the summer of 2016 as the Tittans' pitching coach before being elevated to head coach and leading the team to the FCBL playoffs in its final season in the league.

At Assumption, LaRosa was a starter and reliever, appearing in 53 games with 28 starts and pitching 189 2/3 innings, playing his first two seasons under George Reidy and last two under Mike Rocco. As a freshman in 2012, he led the staff in appearances (21) and was fourth in innings (37 1/3), as a sophomore topped the staff in innings (57 2/3) and starts (11), and as a senior, was second on the club in innings (54.0). In each of his first two seasons, LaRosa played under former four-year Eastern first baseman and Assumption assistant coach Chris DeSantis (2003-06).

A West Hartford native, LaRosa earned his B.A. in International Business from Assumption in 2015.
