Hebron native Laura Smolinski returns as an assistant coach under head coach Megan Silver-Droesch, providing specialized instruction to setters.
Smolinski was a four-year starter for the Colby-Sawyer College volleyball program from 2012-2015, helping the Chargers to North Atlantic Conference (NAC) tournament titles each season and to 25 regular-season conference wins without a loss under head coach Brett Sayer.
Smolinski was the program’s first AVCA All-America when she earned honorable mention honors in 2014, when she was additionally recognized as first-team All-New England Region and first-team All-NAC. As a freshman in 2012, she was named NAC Rookie-of-the-Year.
Smolinski finished her college career ranked third all-time at Colby-Sawyer with 3,958 assists and second in assist average (8.4), and with 996 digs.
Since 2012, Smolinski has been a coach with the Husky Volleyball program. She instructs middle school and high school aged girls, as well as managing tournaments.
At RHAM High School, Smolinski helped the Sachems to three state championships and was named first-team All-State. At RHAM, she was also chosen to be a member of the ESPN Rise GIRL All-Star Team. She was one of ten female athletes in the nation selected to participate in weekly conference calls to discuss the high school perspective on current issues and trends in sport.
Smolinski holds a B.S. Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from Colby-Sawyer.
