Box Score 1 SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Seniors Danielle Bourne (Branford) and Katie Wilson (Pittsburg, CA) and junior Nikki Gasch (New Fairfield) all contributed ten kills to help carry the Eastern Connecticut State University women's volleyball team to a sweep of Westfield State University Saturday morning at the Springfield College Invitational.
Coming off a four-set win over Rhode Island College Friday night, Eastern (2-1) dumped Westfield State, 25-14, 27-25, 25-14. In their final tournament match, the Warriors were swept by No. 21 ranked Springfield College, 25-8, 25-12, 25-21.
With a 2-1 record, Eastern shared third place iin the seven-team tournament behind Clarkson University (3-0) and Springfield (3-1).
Against Westfield, Bourne attacked at .276 and also contributed three of the team's 14 service aces. She also had nine digs and four block assists. Wilson had 22 digs, , seven blocks and four service aces en route to all-tournament honors.
Junior libero Erynn Miller (Stratford) led Eastern with 23 digs and handled 16 serves without an error while freshman Allie Luppi (Tewksbury, MA) dug up 22 balls and sophomore setter Allie Henry (Middletown) led the way with 25 assists.
In three matches in the tournament, Wilson totaled 37 kills on 100 attacks with a .260 attack percentage. She also had 12 blocks and nine service aces.
Eastern competes in the Trinity College Invitational Friday and Saturday, facing Lasell College (5 p.m.) and Trinity (7 p.m.) Friday and Wesleyan University (11 a.m.) and Salve Regina University (3 p.m.) Saturday.
