In the first meeting between the programs, Oshkosh (20-10) snapped a two-match losing streak and dropped Eastern (13-15) to its fourth home loss in its last five outings.

An NCAA Division III Elite Eight qualifier twice in the last five years, Oshkosh attacked at .447 and trailed only twice all night – by a point twice early in the third set.  The Titans raced to a 7-1 lead in the first set, with a kill and consecutive service aces by six-foot freshman Hayley Rickmeier setting the tone for the night.

Oshkosh strung together eight of the first nine points of the second set behind another kill and two more service aces from Rickmeier. Leading by five, the visitors ran off seven points in a row, four coming as direct results of kills by Malcheski – to ease to the second-set victory.

The Warriors led twice early in the final set on an Oshkosh attack error and a kill from freshman Adrianna Mihalek (Woodbury) and later erased a four-point deficit with four straight points on a kill from senior Nicki Gasch (New Fairfield) and service ace from senior  Erynn Miller (Stratford) and two Oshkosh errors to tie the match at 12-all. A kill from sophomore Bry Kelly (Dunbarton, NH) pulled the Warriors into their final tie at 13-all before the Titans went ahead for good with three straight points, two coming on blocks by 6-foot-1 inch freshman Nerisssa Vogt.

Malcheski entered the match as the Titans' team leader in kills and improved her attack percentage with a mark of .679. She finished with nearly 40 percent of her team's kills.

Freshman Jessica Fischer added seven kills and a .462 attack percentage for Oshkosh, with junior Danielle Stoppenbach and Fischer combining for 22 digs.

Mihalek, Eastern's leader in kills this year, didn't put down her first ball until the second set, with the Warriors trailing 8-1. Gasch led Eastern with eight kills but the hosts attacked at only .044. Sophomore libero Allie Luppi (Tewksbury, MA) had ten digs and Mihalek six.

Prior to the match, Eastern honored its three outgoing seniors and their families: Gasch, Miller and Colleen King (Barkhamsted).

Saturday, Eastern hosts Emmanuel College at noon and the University of Saint Joseph (CT) at 2 p.m. to close out the regular season.
