Box Score 2 NEW LONDON – The Eastern Connecticut State University women's volleyball team attacked at just .072 in managing to win just one set Saturday in two losses at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy Bear Invitational at Merriman Gym.
Coming off a season-opening four-set win over host Coast Guard Friday night, Eastern (1-2) was swept by Stevens Tech (2-0), 25-10, 25-15, 25-19, then lost three straight tight decisions to 2012 NCAA tournament qualifier Colby-Sawyer after taking the first set. Match scores were 25-18, 21-25, 19-25, 21-25.
On the day, freshman outside hitter Adrianna Mihalek (Woodbury) collected 27 kills, senior libero Erynn Miller (Stratford) 41 digs and junior setter Jess Patrizi (Beacon Falls) 34 assists and 11 digs. Junior Allie Henry (Middletown) added 19 assists and eight digs and sophomore libero Allie Luppi (Tewksbury, MA) 15 digs.
Stevens attacked at .284 as a team, led by Katie Hall (.438), Mary Tobin (.321) and Mary Caulson (.381), while Jackie Keating attached at .500 for Colby-Sawyer.
Eastern played without senior outside hitter Nicki Gasch (New Fairfield).
Eastern visits Clark University Tuesday at 7 p.m.
