Box Score 2 NEW LONDON, Conn. – A winner of four of its previous five matches, the Eastern Connecticut State University women's volleyball team was swept by regionally-ranked and host U.S. Coast Guard Academy and by Salve Regina University Saturday afternoon.
Against Coast Guard (17-8), ranked No. 10 in New England, Eastern (12-12) attacked at -.087 before lifting it to .109 against Salve Regina (15-8). The Seahawks had defeated the Warriors in four sets a month ago at Geissler Gymnasium.
Sophomore outsider hitter Adrianna Mihalek (Woodbury) totaled 24 of the team's 52 kills on the afternoon and added 19 digs. Junior libero Allie Luppi (Tewksbury, MA) led the Warriors with 26 digs. Senior setter Allie Henry (Middletown) picked up 11 assists against the Bears and freshman Sarah Leonard (Southborough, MA) seven assists. Freshman middle Caryn Sibiskie (Rockfall) had three blocks against Coast Guard.
Eastern visits defending Little East Conference champion Massachusetts Boston Tuesday at 6 p.m.
