SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Junior Andre
Reynolds (Hartford) broke his own record in the 60
meter hurdles for the second straight week at the Springfield
College Invitational and senior Amy Huhn (Hebron)
reached ten feet for the first time in the indoor pole vault for
the Eastern Connecticut State University track and field programs
Saturday at the Springfield Field House.

After winning the 60 hurdles in a program record time of
8.58 last week, Reynolds placed second in a field of 16 Saturday
with a time of 8.52 in the final after being clocked at 8.71 in the
preliminaries.
Huhn, who shares the outdoor pole vault record of 10-8, reached
ten feet for the first time indoors after recording marks as high
as 9-6 ¼ on eight previous occasions. She placed third among
12 competitors – the highest individual finish for the women
in any event Saturday.
Behind Reynolds and the winning 4x400 relay, the Eastern men
totaled 49 points – good for seventh place among ten teams.
Huhn accumulated six points in the pole vault, freshman
Lauren Polansky (Milford) five with a fourth-place
finish in the shot (PR of 35-2) and senior Lauren Hultzman
(Putnam) four by taking fifth with 2,754 points in the
pentathlon as the women earned 26.5 points and placed ninth in a
ten-team field.
For the men, senior Fredrick
Hewett (New London) contributed seven points in two
individual events (fifth among 36 runners in the 200 in a time of
23.64 and sixth among 42 with a time of 7.19 in the 60) and
also anchored a winning relay (3:29.26) which included junior
D'Vonte
Chambers (West Haven), Reynolds, junior Dylan
Kruppa (Torrington).
Senior Ben Abrahams
(Glastonbury) added nine points for the men when he shared
first in the pole vault with a personal-best mark of 12-1 ½
and junior Luisantonio
Rosado (Ponce, PR) submitted five points with his
first sub-nine second time (8.94) in placing fourth in a
field of 16 in the 60 hurdles. Rosado also shared
12th place in a field of 31 in the 600.
Freshman Jason Bindner
(Milford) established a personal-best mark of 20-1
½ with a tenth-place showing in a field of 26 in the long
jump, and junior Christopher
Brown (Hartford) added a PR of 19-11 ¾ when he
captured 12th among 26 in the long jump. Freshman
Dan
Manzi (Coventry) earned two points when he placed
seventh among 16 in the 60 hurdles, establishing a PR of 9.19 in
the preliminaries.
In addition to Huhn, Hultzman and Polansky others contributing
points for the women were senior Akaya McElveen (New
Haven) in the 400, junior Kelly Labanara
(Chaplin) in the 5000, and sophomores
Chelsea Morsey (East Hampton) in the 600 and
Erica Andrasi (Trumbull) in the high jump.
Mcelveen was sixth in a field of 24 in a time of 1:03.35; Labanara
seventh among 16 with a PR of 19:57.74; Morsey seventh among
14 in a time of 1:47.17, and Andrasi shared eighth place
among 12 with a height of 4-7 ¾.
Sophomore Sherry Gilronan (Darien) set a PR for
the second straight week at Springfield. She was timed in 27.87 and
shared 17th in a field of 39 in the 200.
The program's indoor pentathlon record-holder with 2,885 points,
Hultzman was second in the shot (28-9), fourth in the 800 (2:45.67)
and high jump (4-11 ¾), tied for fifth in the 60 hurdles
(10.24) and sixth in the long jump (15-4 ¼) among eight
individuals in the pentathlon Saturday. Freshman Brittany Bryant of
AIC won the event with 3,166 points.
Eastern competes at the Boston University Valentine Classic this
weekend.
