Box Score DANBURY, Conn. – The Western Connecticut State University women's volleyball team broke 19-all ties in each of the first two sets, then eased to a 14-point win in the third to record a three-set sweep of Eastern Connecticut State University in a Little East Conference match Tuesday night at the O'Neill Center. Scores were 25-21, 25-22, 25-11.
In a rematch of last year's LEC playoff final – won in four sets by Western – the Colonials scored three straight points to snap a 19-all tie in the first set, and got a kill from first-team All-LEC hitter Karissa Smith to snap a 19-all tie in the second to move into a two-way tie for the top spot in the conference with defending LEC regular-season champion UMass Boston. Now 2-7 on its opponent's home court this year, Eastern (10-11, 2-2 LEC) is a game behind the leaders. Western (15-9) has won five of six this year, five of its last six against Eastern, and remains unbeaten (5-0) at home in 2015.

Smith of Western led all players with 14 kills, second-team All-LEC hitter Brittany Steele adding ten with a .562 attack percentage. Cady Cordes led the Colonials with 17 digs and second-team All-LEC setter Danielle Kaminsky had 36 assists.
Eastern faces Rhode Island College at 1 p.m. and Wheaton College at 3 p.m. Saturday at Norton, MA.
