Box Score 2 NORTON, Mass. -- The Eastern Connecticut State University women's volleyball team maintained its winning ways in five-set matches this season, capturing the final two sets to down Little East Conference rival Rhode Island College in a non-conference match (the teams meet in LEC play Oct. 27 at Geissler Gym) Saturday afternoon at Wheaton College's Emerson Gymnasium.
Looking to win as many as two straight matches for the fourth time this year, Eastern was swept by host Wheaton later in the afternoon.
In two matches, Eastern junior Adrianna Mihalek (Woodbury) led the Warriors with 29 kills, with sophomore Megan Macomber (South Windsor) leading the way with a .412 attack percentage, and junior Kay Mullen (Fairhaven, MA) adding 12 kills. Junior Fabiana Della-Monica (Newark, DE) set for 30 assists and had a team-high six aces and senior Allie Luppi (Tewksbury, MA) topped the team with 33 digs. Freshman Sage Tourigney (Fitzwilliam, NH) had six blocks, as did Mullen and freshman Jackie Orlowski (Woodstock).
Eastern hosts Connecticut College Tuesday at 7 p.m.

5th set: Eastern broke a 10-all tie by scoring four straight points on three RIC errors and a kill of by Mihalek to defeat Little East Conference rival Rhode Island College in a non-conference match. Mihalek closed out the team's fourth win in five five-set matches this year. Mihalek's season-high 20th kill of the match closed out the win.
Against RIC, which had swept Wheaton earlier in the day, Mihalek attached at .341, Mullen added eight kills, and juniors Amanda Tyler (Longmeadow, MA) and Hannah Bryant (Avon) combined for 13 kills. Della-Monica had 23 assists for Eastern, which served 14 aces – equaling its second most in a match this year. Luppi led all players in the match with 25 digs and Tourigny had five of the team's 14 blocks.
Eastern is 7-1 against RIC in the last eight meetings with the Anchorwomen. The teams share fourth place in the conference with 2-2 records.

Eastern attacked .086 in losing to Wheaton for the third straight year. Mihalek had nine kills and a .273 attack percentage, with the rest of the team managing a .012 attack percentage. Sophomore Amanda Tourjee (Waterford) had 14 assists, Luppi eight digs and Della-Monica three service aces. The Warriors commited ten reception errors.
