Box Score WILLIMANTIC, Conn. -- Junior Adrianna Mihalek (Woodbury) had 13 kills and attacked at .400 to lead the Eastern Connecticut State University women's volleyball team to a 25-14, 25-12, 25-13 non-conference victory over Albertus Magnus College Tuesday night at Francis E. Geissler Gymnasium.
In the first meeting between the programs since 1981, Eastern (5-6) was never seriously threatened against Albertus (1-6) in winning two consecutive matches for the first time this year. Fourteen players saw time for the Warriors.
Behind Mihalek, junior Kay Mullen (Fairhaven, MA) had nine kills and attacked at .533 for Eastern, which posted season-highs in attack percentage (.363) and service aces (14). Mihalek had five aces, junior Nina Zimmitti (East Hampton) four, junior setter Amanda Tourjee (Waterford) picked up a season-high 21 assists (tying her career high) and senior Melissa Godere (Norwich) six digs. Freshman Sage Tourigny (Fitzwilliam, NH), a 6-foot-3 inch middle, had four blocks, as did sophomore Caryn Sibiskie (Rockfall).
Albertus, which has dropped six straight, got five kills from sophomore Ana Gomez and four each from freshman Megan Gritz and junior Amber Cohens
Freshman Megan Warnke chipped in six digs and two service aces, senior Ramona Ornofio digging five balls.
Eastern returns to Little East Conference action Saturday, visiting the University of Southern Maine at noon and also facing Emmanuel College in a 2 p.m. non-conference match.
