Box Score MANSFIELD, Conn. – Junior lefty Ron Buchetto (Clinton) and three relievers combined on the team's second consecutive shutout in Eastern Connecticut State University's 8-0 non-conference baseball win over Roger Williams University Sunday at the Eastern Baseball Stadium.

In Eastern's tenth win in 11 contests in this series, junior centerfielder Alex Zachary (Enfield) raised his average 24 percentage points to .371 by going 4-for-4 with a double, two RBI and three runs scored. He also robbed RWU senior first baseman Shawn Cariglio of extra bases with a diving grab in the left-center field gap for the first out of the fifth.
Hitting safely in his sixth straight game, Zachary doubled in the first run of the game and scored the second in the first inning, drove in another run with a single in the second, singled and scored leading off the fourth and singled and scored leading off the sixth.
Junior rightfielder Pat Sirois (Cromwell) upped his team-leading batting average to .390 with a bunt single in the second and one-out triple in the fifth. He also walked and scored in a two-run third inning.
Senior third baseman Chad Adams (Ware, MA) and freshman DH Alex Parkos (Meriden) each had two hits and drove in two runs, and sophomore first baseman D.J. Scavone (Auburn, MA) singled twice to extend his hitting streak to 12 – the longest by any player this year. Freshman DH William Coleman (Northford) came off the bench to go 2-for-2 and is now batting .421 in 19 at-bats.
Sophomore second baseman Shane Nowalk and freshman rightfielder Eli Camner each had two of the Hawks' six hits, and senior DH Mike Allwein reached three times with a single land two walks.
In a bid to ruin the shutout, senior shortstop Kevin Baker doubled down the left field line with two out in the sixth, but freshman second baseman Ryan Hood (Arlington, MA) came up with a back-handed play to throw out senior centerfielder Jamie Timothy for the final out of the sixth. In the seventh, Roger Williams loaded the bases after there were two down and none, but Kosterich got a swinging strikeout to end the threat. The Hawks also had a runner gunned down at the plate to end the game.
Eastern pitching has not allowed a run in the last 20 innings over three games and only one in the last 28 over four.
