Box Score SALEM, Mass. – Seniors Tim Reilly (Hanover, MA) and Dan Vasquez (Newington) evenly split eight goals and senior Blake Smaldone (Hamilton, MA) made 16 saves as the Eastern Connecticut State University men's lacrosse team ran its winning streak to five in a 14-9 Little East Conference victory over Salem State University Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field.
Eastern (6-4, 2-0 Little East) has now won four of five matches this year on its opponent's field and remains perfect (15-0) all-time in the series with Salem (5-6, 0-2 Little East).
After giving up the first goal of the match two minutes into play, the Warriors never trailed again, breaking a 2-2 tie on goals by senior Liam Murphy (Dover, NH) and a pair by Vasquez.
Reilly and Vasquez led Eastern with four goals each and junior Shawn Tierney (Norwell, MA) contributed three assists. Ben Melaugh took over the team scoring lead with five goals for Salem, which has lost three straight.
Eastern, now 89-9 in 16 seasons of LEC regular-season play, hosts Massachusetts Dartmouth Saturday at 1 p.m.
