Box Score MANSFIELD, Conn. – The Bowdoin College men's lacrosse team outshot Eastern Connecticut State University 36-7 in cruising to a 12-2 halftime lead, connecting on four of six extra-man opportunities in the game en route to an easy 16-6 non-conference triumph Tuesday afternoon at the Mansfield Outdoor Complex.
With its two losses this year to Division III Top Ten teams, Bowdoin (2-2) unleashed 62 shots -- forcing Eastern junior goalie Chris Gorman (Shrewsbury, MA) to make 19 saves. The Polar Bears, ranked eighth in New England, were successful on all 14 of their clear attempts, held a +8 advantage in ground balls, and won 14 of 24 faceoffs in delivering Eastern's fourth straight loss.
Junior attack Shawn Daly, freshman attack Jimmy Young and sophomore attack Jeff Powers combined for 13 points to lead an offense which had 13 different players contributing a goal or assists.
Senior goalie Peter Mumford made three saves and left with a 12-2 lead after one half to even his season record to 2-2. Junior John Young (Manhasset, NY) stopped eight shots and gave up four goals before leaving with three minutes left.
Junior midfielder Harrison Urda (Milford, NH) and freshman midfielder Ed Morin (West Haven) each had two goals for Eastern.
Eastern hosts Mount Ida College Saturday at 1 p.m.
