Women's Track & Field: Warriors Shake Off The Rust at Springfield Invitational

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. --  The Eastern Connecticut State University men's and women's track teams returned from a layoff of nearly seven weeks to compete at the Springfield College Massasoit Classic at the Springfield Field House. Team scores were not recorded.

A total of eight teams competed in the meet, with the Division II AIC men and women garnering the top spots in most every event.
Eastern participates in the Wesleyan University Invitational Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Bacon Field House.

Men

Fifteen different individuals combined for the team total of 59 ½ points.

First-year University of Connecticut transfer Collin Wiltshire (Ledyard) totaled seven points in two events and sophomore Aidan Hennessy (Granby) 6 ½ in two events, first-year competitors Reece Griffin (Manchester) and Adam Schimmelpfennig (Pomfret) six points each in one event and senior tri-captain Ryan Escoda (Newtown) five in one event.
Wiltshire was fourth in the triple jump (45-1 3/4/13.76m) and seventh in the high jump (5-8 3/4/1.75m), Aidan Hennessy tied for fifth in the high jump (5-10 3/4/1.80m) and sixth in the triple jump (41-11 1/4/12.78m), Griffin third in the shot (42-9/13.03m), Schimmelpfennig third in the 60 hurdles (8.73) and Escoda fourth in the 800 (2:03.38).
Contributing four points each with fifth-place finishes were senior tri-captain Tyler Lindquist (Worcester, MA) and sophomore Jake Haddad (Vernon). Lindquist was timed in 53.56 in the 400 and Haddad 9:55.36 in the 3000.

Women

The Warriors totaled 26 points.

Junior tri-captain Mackenzie Dunn (Middletown) scored single points with eighth-place finishes in the long jump (15-4 1/4/4.68m) in a field of 18 and in the triple jump (32-1/9.78m) among 15 participants.

Two first-year competitors combined for six points. Alison LeClerc (Wolcott) collected four points with a fifth-place finish in the 600 (1:57.52) and Nicole Popham (Bethel) two points by placing seventh in a field of 15 in the triple jump (32-4 3/4/9.87m). Sophomore Elisabeth Rodil (Milford, NH) added four points with a fifth-place showing in the 800 (2:45.13), and junior Daniela Morales (West Haven) contributed a point by placing eighth in the weight (35-9 1/4/10.90m)
