Carley Stoker (Sandy Creek, NY) broke a sixth-inning tie with her third extra-base-hit of the season – a one-out double – to lift the No. 6 nationally-ranked Eastern Connecticut State University softball team to a 6-5 come-from-behind victory over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges Saturday afternoon at the NFCA Division III Leadoff Classic at South Commons Complex.
The win is the third straight for Eastern (3-1) in Columbus following an opening loss to No. 8-ranked Salisbury University. Claremont (5-7) had won four of its previous five entering the game.
Eastern erased a three-run deficit by holding the Athenas scoreless over the final four at-bats and riding Stoker's tie-breaking double in the sixth. The Warriors got one back in the fourth and tied the game with two in the fifth on junior
