Baseball: Warriors Go Quickly and Quietly as NCAA Mansfield Regional Host

Eastern scores three total runs in two losses

Box Score
STORRS, Conn. – Matt Holmes' two-run home run capped a three-run sixth inning as fourth-seeded Husson University eliminated second-seeded Eastern Connecticut State University from the 2024 NCAA Division III Mansfield Regional with a 4-2 victory Friday afternoon at Elliot Ballpark.

Eastern (29-15) took a 2-1 lead on Jared Clark's (Bristol) RBI single in the top of the sixth before Husson (24-11) went ahead for good on in infield ground ball and Holmes' seventh home run of the year with two outs in the bottom of the inning.

Husson is scheduled to meet third-seeded SUNY New Paltz Sunday at noon at the Eastern Baseball Stadium with that winner needing to beat undefeated top-seeded Endicott College twice to win the title. The championship round is scheduled for Sunday at 3:30, with a second game, if necessary, to be played Monday at a time to-be-announced.

In Saturday night's winners' bracket final, Endicott defeated New Paltz, 19-12 to become the tournament's only unbeaten.
