The young Warriors team were led by Junior Captain Zach D'Andrea, with exciting Sophomore
Noah Hauswirth dipping under the 17-minute barrier as well. The Lynchburg transfer
Hayden Baber finished 3
rd for Eastern in his first race as a Warrior, while freshman
Kyle Kornacki was a second behind in 4
th. The top 5 was rounded off by
Joey Caruk, who finished the 5k in 17:34.
Half of the men's team ran their first race for Eastern, as the team finished 6
th out of 15 teams, with 139 athletes crossing the finish line. The field was made up of several Division 2 teams, as well as 2 Division 1 teams (Uconn and UMass Lowell).

- Emely Melendez (So.) – 12:12 (6:33 per mile) – 24th Overall
- Meghan Georgescu (Sr.) – 12:24 (6:39 per mile) – 30th Overall
- Maya D'Aquila (Fr.) – 12:26 (6:40 per mile) – 33rd Overall
- Isabel Cintron (So.) – 12:30 (6:42 per mile) – 36th Overall
- Keira Warner (So.) – 13:27 (7:12 per mile) – 64th Overall
- Daria Fournier (So.) – 13:35 (7:17 per mile) – 67th Overall
- Kayla LaMalfa (Sr.) - 13:45 (7:22 per mile) – 69th Overall
- Natalie Estabrook (Fr.) – 15:29 (8:18 per mile) – 92nd Overall
Emely Melendez was Eastern's #1 for the first time in her career, finishing as the 3
rd Division 3 runner overall. Georgescu, D'Aquila, and Cintron all finished within 6 seconds of each other, providing serious depth for the Warriors. The top 5 was rounded off by Sophomore
Keira Warner, who helped Eastern finish 6
th overall, the same result as the men.
Eastern Connecticut was the first Division 3 team to finish the 3000 Meter race, narrowly edging out Emmanuel (Mass.) by just 2 points. The only other LEC team was Western Conn., finishing far behind in 10
th place.
The Warriors are back in action on Saturday, September 20, when they travel to Middletown, CT for the Wesleyan University Cardinal Invitational. The men will step up to 8000 Meters, while the women advance to 6000 Meters.
