Key Moments:
First Quarter

  • The Warriors and Huskies traded baskets into the final minute of the opening quarter. Eastern worked its way out of an early deficit behind back-to-back floaters in the paint from Cassesse and Topa. The surge sparked a brief Warriors run, capped by a  Paquette  steal and two quick baskets from Nudd in 40 seconds, trimming the deficit to one heading into the second quarter, 15-14.
Second Quarter
  • The Huskies applied early pressure in the second quarter, opening the scoring with two quick layups from Jaycie Christopher to extend Southern Maine's lead. Eastern countered with a 6-point run from Nudd and Topa before the Huskies could find their footing behind another Christopher basket, Eastern gained its first lead of the game, 21-20.
  • Eastern's lead was short-lived as Southern Maine's Lucy Wiles and Christopher dominated the floor to reach 10 points apiece with less than four remaining till half. Liv Cassesse added a helper to boost the Warriors to even ground for a brief 27-27 game, but a Wiles jumper, Julia Kratzer three, and Dakota Shipley buzzer-beater trey boosted the Huskies to an eight-point lead to close out the quarter 35-27.
Third Quarter
  • Southern Maine cemented its lead, widening to a 12-point gap as Lucy Wiles and Avah Ingail's steady run stretched the lead into double digits. Eastern edged midway through the frame when Cassesse knocked down a three and Alyssa Paquette finished inside as the Warriors briefly slowed the momentum, but, to no avail, the Huskies began to slam the door with their ever-lengthening lead, eventually closing the quarter with a 37-27 advantage into the final period.
Fourth Quarter
  • The Huskies opened the final frame in control, extending the lead from the free-throw line with Izzy Morelli and Jaycie Christopher, and Eastern was unable to mount the difference behind Southern Maine's steadying pace.
  • The game was ultimately decided at the 3-minute mark as the Huskies coasted through with a 15-point lead, with the Warriors' Morgan Yonush (Plainfield) scoring the final basket for Eastern before the Huskies closed out the conference match 76-62.
