Seven-time LEC weekly award-winner, second consecutive this season.In a 3-3 week, sophomore righty Elizabeth Mitchell appeared in every game, winning two games and saving the third. In 21 2/3 innings, she struck out 22 and walked eight with a 2.26 ERA. In a sweep of the University of Southern Maine in Eastern's Little East Conference openers Sunday, Mitchell pitched a seven-hit complete-game with nine strikeouts in a 3-2 win  and returned to save a 5-4 win in the nightcap by pitching a 1-2-3 seventh. In a 3-0 complete-game shutout of Trinity College, she allowed seven hits. Last year's LEC Pitcher and Rookie-of-the-Year and a third-team All-Region II selection, Mitchell ranks first in the conference in complete games (6) and innings (49 2/3),  tied for first in shutouts (2) and saves (1), in a tie for second in wins (5) and starts (7), and is third in strikeouts (40). The team's leadoff hitter, Mitchell is second on the team in batting average (.372) and first in runs (12), hits (16), and extra-base hits (5) and is fielding 1.000 on 16 chances. Eastern visits Nichols College in a non-conference doubleheader Wednesday at 2:30 before returning to LEC play at home Saturday in a twinbill against Western Connecticut State University at 1 p.m.
