Box Score
DANBURY, Conn. –  The Eastern Connecticut State University men's Lacrosse team drops its third Little East meeting of the season against
Western Connecticut State University as an 11-goal scoring run by the Wolves proved to be a deafening difference for the Warriors, who dropped a 20-5 decision Wednesday night at Westside Athletic Complex.

With the loss, the Warriors were unable to snap Western Connecticut's seven-game winning streak, as the Wolves move to 5-0 in conference play. The defeat also extends WestConn's recent run of dominance in the series, as Eastern has now dropped nine straight regular-season meetings against the in-state rivals.

Eastern now falls to 4-5 with three regular-season games remaining, all in Little East Conference play.

Game Information:
  • Score: Eastern Connecticut State University 5, Western Connecticut State University 20
  • Records: Eastern (4-5) (LEC 2-3), West Conn (11-3) (LEC 5-0)
  • Location: Danbury, Conn. | (Westside Athletic Complex)
How It Happened:

WestConn set the tone early, jumping out to a 5-2 lead at the end of the first quarter with notably intense strikes from the Wolves' Cody Suhr and Sam Rosa, while Eastern did not find the scoreboard until the final two minutes of the opening frame.

Eastern's starting goals came from Anthony Mazza (Warwick, NY) and Warren Channing (Glastonbury) in back-to-back concession, but the short spark was not enough as 26 total turnovers halted any offensive advantage for the Warriors, and with this blunder, the Wolves' attacking momentum carried over the rest of the meeting, outscoring Eastern by four or more goals in the following three quarters, noted by a commanding 10-2 advantage at halftime.

The next two quarters flew by relatively quickly behind the Wolves' advantage as they continued to stretch the lead in the third with four goals to Eastern's none as the Warriors suffered an over 30-minute scoring drought, their next goal coming from Channing in the fourth, at 12:10, who sparked some helpers from Landon Mabb (Sun Prairie, WI) and Fabio Tirado (Newington) to finalize the 5-20 loss.

WestConn finished with a 66-21 shot advantage and 35 shots on goal compared to Eastern's 13, while also winning the ground ball battle 35-22 and going 22-28 on face-offs.
