PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Eastern Connecticut State field hockey (0-1) dropped its opening day contest at Johnson & Wales (R.I.) 2-0 on Tuesday (Sept. 1).

Johnson and Wales scored the first goal of the game at 32:19 into the contest and added a second goal with just over a minute to play in the game.

Eastern led JWU in shots, outshooting the Wildcats 16-13 and finishing with eight shots on goal to seven. Grace Barlage led the team with five shots and Ada Ellis had a team-high two shots on goal.

Victoria McKenna made five saves in goal for the Warriors.
